Description

Fund Intelligence is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic reporter for its leading publication covering mutual fund governance: Fund Directions. The monthly print title and daily website provides news and analysis on developments impacting mutual fund boards of directors.
This is a great role for early-career candidates interested in expanding their knowledge of business and financial journalism and working as part of a larger team of award-winning journalists.
Successful candidates will be up for the challenge getting out in the field to meet sources and working contacts on the phone to help provide a regular stream of exclusive news stories and insightful analysis pieces.
Fund Directions is an important piece of Pageant Media’s Fund Intelligence group, which includes a team of 11 reporters and editors covering the investment management industry from angles ranging from legal, compliance and governance, operations and technology, product development, sales and marketing, and distribution.

  • Responsibilities:
    Stay on top of wider industry trends impacting fund boards for probing analytical feature stories.
  • Break news on developments at specific fund boards.
    Travel occasionally to cover industry conferences and build contacts.
    Cultivate a network of sources by working the phones, arranging in-person meetings, and attending industry events.
Requirements
  • Degree in journalism or a related field
  • 2-5 years working in a newsroom or related field preferred
  •  Proficient in working with social media, data and content management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, journalism ethics, problem solving and multi-tasking in a deadline-driven environment are a must.
